The character of Robin Starveling is much like that of Tom Snout. Robin Starveling has a very small speaking role in the play and is not a very active character in the play and is definitely not a very active character in the subplot. Robin was originally supposed to play the role of Thisbe's mother, but for some reason both of the parent characters in this play get eliminated and Robin is forced to play the role of the moonlight. All he does is stand with a lantern and shine light on characters during night scenes, much like Tom Snout and the wall.
Robin Starveling's ability to play moonlight is one of the humorous parts of the play as it is an utter failure and the audience does not see it as being a moon at all. Robin Starveling seems to be one of the more timid and less vocal characters of the entire acting troupe as he never really speaks up for himself and when it is his time to give lines he summarizes them instead of saying them all.
